Trusted Credentials & Lived Learning

At Rolling Recovery, we believe in honest healing, transparent growth, and accessible education. I'm Narissa — a lived experience advocate, artist, parent, and small business owner building support tools from the ground up.

I don’t gatekeep learning. I believe knowledge should be shared, especially when it can empower others navigating trauma, disability, neurodivergence, and recovery.

This page exists to show you what I’ve studied so far — mostly free, community-driven education — and to share those links with you. Some may be paid but lowest cost I was able to source. I am in no way sponsored or affiliated with these companies or organisations. I'm just someone sharing what's out there budget friendly learning wise.

🎓 Courses I’m currently diving into:

Cert IV in Mental Health (funded online through genU Training )

Diploma of Holistic Counselling with Health & Harmony College (Paid but they offer affordable plans or buy now pay later options)

These studies are helping me blend real-world experience with formal qualifications so I can keep showing up for others in a way that’s ethical, informed, and heart-led. Holistic counselling blends talk-based techniques with tools like mindfulness, somatic awareness, creative expression, and nervous system regulation. It gives space for people to feel seen beyond the system. Especially those who’ve felt overlooked, misunderstood, or dismissed.

It also pairs powerfully with mental health training, helping me offer care that’s both trauma-informed and human. No rigid scripts just real connection, curiosity, and choice

💡 Curious about studying too?
genU sometimes offers government-funded online courses in mental health, community services, and more. It’s worth checking out if you’re looking to skill up without the heavy price tag if there's a funded spot available click here

I'm also completing Mirco courses through Black Dog Institute and NEDC. Both have fantastic platforms and although I'm a little slow at doing them I'm finding them incredibly eye opening. There are free and paid options or webinars so definitely check them out. They have some incredible resources if your family is dealing with mental illness, suicidal thoughts or disordered eating.

As I do more I will add them here with feedback to help you choose what might be right for you and your family.

Here's some of Micro courses I've done free and as mentioned I'll continue adding to this or provide you with links to others you can check out yourself:

Hearing lived experience voices — including carers — gave me fresh perspective, insight, and a deep sense of solidarity. It was honestly fantastic.

This course took me longer than the listed 20 minutes, but every second was worthwhile. It was incredibly eye-opening and inclusive — supportive of all parents, regardless of gender. The platform was beautifully designed and easy to use, and I look forward to completing more training with PANDA.

I truly recommend this for everyone, whether you're a parent or not. Having an open mind on these topics can literally save lives — a mother’s, a father’s, or a child’s. Learning to notice the signs is a gift we can all carry.

💬 My reflection:
This course was genuinely eye-opening and deepened my passion for neuroplasticity. It helped me understand that who we are now isn't fixed — our brains can grow, change, and heal. We can strengthen new pathways, and it's never too late to support this process — in ourselves or in our children.

I truly believe every parent, doctor, educator, and person with lived experience of trauma should take this course. It offers both clarity and hope. If you're carrying guilt over your past or struggling to support your kids, please know: change is possible. Help is worth seeking, and healing is always on the table.
